About Me

My photo
Well I suppose I am or at least used to be like everybody else, sort of. Used to do the thing that society wants us to, The Rat Race. For years I dreamt about exotic locations after watching the travel channel, thinking that some day I would love to go their or do that. Until the beginning of this year (5 Jan 2010), it was not planned or a new year’s resolution, it just happened. I cancelled all my TV subscriptions and pulled out all cables, literally threw them away. After this I drove down to a local scuba centre and signed up for my first scuba course. Let us fast forward to today, I have quite my job sold my vehicle. What now? TRAVEL BABY, SCUBA TRAVEL!!!

Eventful day

The day started with word of diving customers on the way we were ecstatic and got gear ready and eagerly awaited their arrival. After all the paperwork was sorted we set off for 2 dives.
Bea Drad, Tarja, Stina Broman and Andreas Svensson from Sweden at the dive centre, they are about to embark on a 4 month bus trip through Africa starting in Egypt. I wish them all the best on their adventure.

Here I am giving a briefing on the Cedar Pride wreck, with Tarja paying close attention.

Just look at the concentration from Bea, Stina and Andreas or it might be that they did not appreciate my lame joke "We will be doing a boat dive today; the only problem is that the boat is at the bottom of the ocean at about 22m".
On the way to the pier and you can just see the excitement on their faces.

On the pier and time for a pose, here Tarja still had her camera. This was the 1st time she has ever used and lost this camera.

Giant doing a stride.

Pedro and I after my dive as he was involved in a search and recovery dive, "operation recover camera", he looks happy because Tarja found her camera about 200m from where she has lost it as it drifted down the shore line.

Getting warmed up by the sun during the surface interval, although the water temperature is 25°C the cool wind and wet wetsuits does make it a bit chilly.

Getting kitted up for the 2nd dive, what more can i say.

Diago from Argentina just joined us as we were about to brief for the 2nd dive.

Besides the fact that Tarja lost her camera at the start of the 1st dive the rest of the dive went on without any major problem, you can’t really call a cylinder strap coming undone a problem. On the 2nd dive things was not so straight forward as some divers struggled with masks, weights and regulators and we had to attend to these. So all and all it was a typical day at the dive centre. We all washed the gear and got the equipment ready for tomorrow, finished dinner and are just sitting around doing our own thing.
