About Me

My photo
Well I suppose I am or at least used to be like everybody else, sort of. Used to do the thing that society wants us to, The Rat Race. For years I dreamt about exotic locations after watching the travel channel, thinking that some day I would love to go their or do that. Until the beginning of this year (5 Jan 2010), it was not planned or a new year’s resolution, it just happened. I cancelled all my TV subscriptions and pulled out all cables, literally threw them away. After this I drove down to a local scuba centre and signed up for my first scuba course. Let us fast forward to today, I have quite my job sold my vehicle. What now? TRAVEL BABY, SCUBA TRAVEL!!!

It is getting colder here...

When I woke up this morning and walked outside I felt the cold wind from the north, no wonder Heathrow airport is closed.

Once again the day started of slow as we waited for customers to arrive, 13:30 we opted to go have lunch as nobody turned up. We thought the the cold wind might have scared them off. As you all know that is the time when people will show up, we just received our food and the boss called us to meet the divers. When he saw that we were eating he said not to worry, he will handle the paper work and we can carry on with lunch.

Come on that is not fair it is not her fault that they got the oil. This is a joke we had as he is from Sweden and she is from Norway. The history is that Sweden gave Norway away and later oil was discovered in Norway and Sweden has no oil. Then you have some Swedish calling the Norwegians dumb, makes you think doesn’t it.

Mahdi from Darma Village and a friend of Arab divers joined us as he referred 2 of his customers to us; it is always a pleasure to have him.

Here is Mahdi with his hotel guests, Minam Loken and I can not remember his name, and they are both commercial divers with recreational certification. I will have his name tomorrow as they will be diving with us again.

Last night after we completed all of our duties at the village we went to Tala Bay Marina, just to have a look around as we have never been there and heard so much about it.

This is Tala Bay Marina close to the Saudi border and it is not where we are staying.
It looks very impressive but I was not impressed by it at all, not much to do. Yes I know it is low season now but surely in a tourist destination one should have something for the tourists to spend their money on besides water sport.

Some of these boats have not been used in a long time; you can tell by just looking at their motors and props, the algae almost looks like it is an artificial reef.

This is a very nice private beach for the resort with its own beach bar almost like in the movie Cocktail. When I asked the bartender if they are planning anything special for new years he told me that it is a bar…well done Sherlock I would never have guessed that. Well I had to try again as we are looking for somewhere nice to spend new years, if we do not have customers who would want to dive, this time the response was not much different. At least we know what a bar looks like now.

This picture does not reflect the feeling you get when you stand on the beach and admire the beauty, the building with all the stringy lights is Heat Wave a restaurant on the beach. No I did not have to go inside and ask, I have actually seen and even dined in one before.
